The way I started to approach my canvas changed while living in France, as a result of being inspired in a multitude of ways. For one, I met a group of five female artists who invited me to join their group and we would gather frequently to sip red wine and paint together. The women were free souls and their nature portrayed itself in their work. After this point, I noticed a remarkable change, partially through their influence, in how I would engage myself with my mediums. I began to develop a lightheartedness and opened up to experimenting with “the un-known.”
Currently, the majority of my work has been of a whimsical nature as I enjoy slightly bending and distorting the subject matter to enhance composition, while challenging myself in creating an essence of fun. I have recently turned my focus towards subject matters of the dwelling place. Furniture, plants and building exteriors have a breath of life painted into them to the point where they are almost alive. My goal is to create warm and pleasurable surroundings for the habitat. Through a variety of life experiences and inspirations, I feel I have approached an entirely different method of expression. I love the results I have achieved and hope you do too.
